Welcome to the Bujinkan Hickey Dojo!
The Bujinkan Hickey Dojo is based in St. Davids C.B.S. boys secondary school in Artane, Dublin, Ireland, established January, 2004. The main class is held on Thursday nights at 8:00pm. Beginners are welcome. This training is suitable for male and females of all fitness levels. Note: you have to be 15 or over to join Bujinkan Hickey Dojo.
Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu is a martial art consisting of 9 separate Ryu or schools. The format of the classes in the Bujinkan Hickey Dojo is simple. The first hour is generally spent teaching basics. The second hour focuses on more advanced topics including the current theme of the year.
In addition to this we also cover the basic weapons of the Bujinkan. For beginners the basic weapons you will get to train with are tanto (knife), hanbo (3ft stick), bo (6ft stick) and ken (sword). Other weapons covered will depend on the theme for the year in question.
Bujinkan in Ireland
The international Bujinkan community has seen many changes since it's introduction to the world, Europe and even Ireland. It has matured so that we have many very good instructors worldwide that understand what the Soke Masaaki Hatsumi and the Japanese Shihan are teaching and can help share their understanding of his martial art with people who wish to learn. Here in Ireland we have been lucky to have the guidance of several Irish Shihan including Steve Byrne (pictured)..
